The fine wool sheep are represented by Xinjiang fine wool sheep, Northeast fine wool sheep, and Inner Mongolia fine wool sheep, the semi fine wool sheep is represented by Han sheep, the coarse wool sheep is represented by Mongolian sheep and Kazakh sheep, and the lamb skin sheep is represented by Tan sheep and Hu sheep. According to the use and wool type characteristics of sheep fur, sheep fur is generally divided into three categories: native sheep fur, improved sheep fur, and hybrid sheep fur.
(1) Native sheep skin
Native sheep leather has the characteristics of long, thick, loose hair, clear curls of hair, and flexible leather plates. It can be made into various fur clothing, gloves, and leather shoes.
(2) Improved sheepskin
The improved sheep skin has a dense and uniform coat with a small wavy curve. After being made into fur, it can be made into trimmed fur, dyed into various colors, and made into leather clothes, leather hats, leather collars, leather mats, etc.
(3) Hybrid sheep skin
Hybrid sheep skins include Tan sheep skins, Hu sheep skins, and Sanbei sheep skins, but their quality varies greatly and their uses are the same as those of this breed of sheep skins. The fur of young sheep is called lambskin, which is divided into two types: native lamb and improved lamb. According to the length of wool, it can be divided into small wool, medium wool, and large wool lambs. Those with short fur and obvious patterns are suitable for making fur coats and hats. Long and uneven fur can be used to make overcoat linings, leather mats, and collars.
